About Wangie
Wangie is a small rural locality in the Shire of Buloke in the Mallee fringe of north-western Victoria, about 280 kilometres from Melbourne. The area is characterised by broadacre cropping country typical of the Victorian wheat belt, with wheat, barley and legume farming on flat to gently undulating terrain. The Wangie Flora and Fauna Reserve, established in 1979, protects remnant native vegetation in an otherwise heavily cleared agricultural landscape.
