About Langkoop

Langkoop is a locality in the Shire of West Wimmera in far western Victoria, on Mosquito Creek south of Apsley. The settlement grew out of the Elderslie soldier settlement, when the government resumed the 36,000-acre Elderslie estate after the First World War and subdivided it into blocks for returned servicemen; the first allocations were made in April 1920. The Langkoop Memorial Hall, rebuilt after a bushfire in 1951, commemorates the district's war veterans.
