About Deep Lead
Deep Lead is a former gold mining township in the North West of Victoria, situated about 8 kilometres north-west of Stawell near the Grampians range. Gold was discovered here in 1857 on one of Victoria's richest alluvial fields, and until 1859 the town rivalled Stawell as the likely district centre.
