About Cathcart (Vic.)
Cathcart is a rural locality and former goldmining town about 8 kilometres south-west of Ararat in western Victoria, at the headwaters of the Hopkins River. Site of the earliest gold discovery in the Ararat district in 1854, it sits in open grazing country within reach of the Grampians National Park and the Great Western wine region.
