About Denicull Creek
Denicull Creek is a locality in the Grampians foothills between Stawell and Ararat in western Victoria. Alluvial gold was discovered on Denicull Creek in May 1854, the first find in the Ararat goldfield. The area preserves a heritage-listed gold mining site with shafts, dams and races that are evidence of both European and Chinese alluvial mining in the second half of the 19th century.
