About Mount Cottrell

Mount Cottrell is a rural locality on the western fringe of Melbourne, Victoria, straddling the City of Melton and City of Wyndham local government areas about 31 kilometres west of the city centre. It is the site of the Mount Cottrell massacre of 1836, an early clash in the Port Phillip district in which a punitive expedition killed Wathaurung people after the death of a shepherd.
