About Delahey
Delahey is a suburb in the City of Brimbank, about 20 km north-west of Melbourne's CBD. It was farmland until the state government acquired the land in the mid-to-late 1980s for re-subdivision into a residential suburb, and the name was formally adopted in 1994. The suburb is named after William Delahey, an Irish immigrant who settled in the district in the 1840s and became president of the Keilor Shire Council in 1882.
