About Sydenham (Vic.)
Sydenham is a suburb of Melbourne about 22 km north-west of the CBD in the City of Brimbank, on the Sunbury railway line. The district remained a small rural settlement on the basalt plains until the late 20th century, when it grew into a residential suburb from the 1990s. Its railway station, opened in 1859 as Keilor Road and renamed Sydenham in 1887, was replaced by Watergardens station in 2002 when the electrified line was extended.
