About Guys Hill
Guys Hill is a rural locality in the Shire of Cardinia, about 43 km south-east of Melbourne, roughly halfway between Beaconsfield and Upper Beaconsfield. Its name descends from earlier names for the area, beginning with Inebriates' Hill after an 1889 home for men recovering from alcohol abuse, the first of its kind in Victoria, before being renamed for a local storekeeper. The former institute and its grounds mark the locality today.
