About Wesburn
Wesburn is a town on the Warburton Highway in the Shire of Yarra Ranges, Victoria, about 62 km east of Melbourne, between Yarra Junction and Millgrove. It began in 1894 as the Warburton Village Settlement, a government subdivision of more than 300 hectares into small farm lots, and was renamed Wesburn, an abbreviation of West Warburton, in 1925. Timber milling drove the district from the early 1900s, and the town was a popular excursion and guesthouse destination until the 1950s. The former railway line, closed in 1965, now carries the Lilydale-to-Warburton Rail Trail.
