About Millgrove
Millgrove is a township in the Yarra Valley in the Shire of Yarra Ranges, about 63 km east of Melbourne, on the Warburton Highway between Wesburn and Warburton beside the Yarra River. The name is said to come from John Kennedy's property Millgrove, which he named after his home town in Tipperary, Ireland, though the district's timber mills may also have inspired it. From the early 1900s logs from Mount Donna Buang were milled here and shipped by rail until the line closed in 1965, and the town still offers a base for bushwalking, canoeing and fishing.
