About Knoxfield

Knoxfield is a suburb in the outer east of Melbourne, in the City of Knox, about 27 kilometres from the city centre. It is named after Sir George Hodges Knox, a local and state politician of the early twentieth century. Development began in the 1950s and grew rapidly through the 1960s and 1970s. The suburb is home to the Knox Athletics Track and Gilbert Reserve, and has a shopping strip on Ferntree Gully Road.
