About Briar Hill
Briar Hill is a residential and light industrial suburb of Melbourne, in the City of Banyule about 18 kilometres north-east of the central business district and a kilometre east of Greensborough. Its name possibly derives from the tangled briar vegetation that once covered the hill rising to its north. The suburb grew from farmland, and Briar Hill Primary School, opened in 1927, was followed by wider residential development from the 1950s.
