About Rosanna

Rosanna is a residential suburb about 12 km north-east of Melbourne, just beyond Heidelberg and on the fringe of the Yarra Valley green belt. The area was originally the farm of James Watson, named Rosa Anna after his wife Elizabeth Anna Rose, in the 1838 subdivision of the Warringal estate. The railway was extended through Rosanna to Eltham in 1902, opening the area to suburban development. The neighbouring district of Rosanna East was renamed Viewbank in the early 1970s.
