About Viewbank

Viewbank is a residential suburb of Melbourne, 14 km north-east of the CBD in the City of Banyule, between the Yarra and Plenty rivers. The area was settled from 1837, and its name came from a homestead built in 1839 at the rivers' confluence, named after a Scottish property. Viewbank stayed farmland until after World War II and was subdivided into a prestige residential area from the 1960s; historic silos beside the Yarra still mark the old homestead site.
