About Ormond

Ormond is a residential suburb of Melbourne, about 12 km south-east of the central business district, in the City of Glen Eira. It was named after Francis Ormond, a 19th-century grazier and philanthropist, when the North Road railway station was renamed in 1897. The suburb grew mainly between the world wars and is now centred on a long shopping strip along North Road.
