About Glen Huntly

Glen Huntly is a small suburb of Melbourne about 11 km south-east of the central business district, squeezed between Caulfield and Ormond on the Frankston line. It is named after the ship Glen Huntly, which in 1840 landed immigrants from Scotland at nearby Point Ormond, where Victoria's first quarantine station was set up after fever broke out on the voyage; the track from the shore became Glen Huntly Road. The railway station, opened in 1881, was rebuilt in recent years as part of the level crossing removal project.
