About Mirboo North
Mirboo North is a town about 155 km east of Melbourne in the Strzelecki Ranges of Gippsland, in the South Gippsland Shire. It began in the late 1870s as a timber town, settled by cutters drawn to the mountain ash forests, and its first butter factory, built in 1893, now houses a brewery. The town is the start of the Grand Ridge Rail Trail, a 13 km path to Boolarra along the former railway through rainforest and dry sclerophyll forest. Mirboo North is also known for its large building murals and an annual Italian festival.
