About Tolmie

Tolmie is a small town in the Victorian high country, situated approximately 22 kilometres north-east of Mansfield at an elevation of about780 metres. Named after Scottish immigrant Ewen Tolmie who held the Dueran pastoral run from 1860, the town grew from selectors taking up farm selections in the 1880s. The surrounding region is heavily forested and was devastated during the 2006-07 bushfires. Tolmie holds an annual Sports Day dating back to 1886, and the Stringybark Creek historical site where Ned Kelly's gang killed three police officers in 1878 lies eight kilometres to the north.
