About Tawonga South
Tawonga South is a town in the upper Kiewa River valley in the Victorian High Country, on the Kiewa River beside Mount Beauty, from which it is separated only by the river. Mount Beauty was established as the construction village for the Kiewa hydro-electric scheme of the 1940s, and Tawonga South grew alongside it. The town is about an hour's drive from Albury-Wodonga along the Kiewa Valley Highway and is a staging point for coaches and skiers heading to Falls Creek, with Mount Bogong nearby.
