About Rutherglen

Rutherglen is a town in north-eastern Victoria, near the Murray River border with New South Wales, named after the Scottish town of Rutherglen, which lies just outside Glasgow. It is the centre of one of Australia's most famous wine regions, renowned for its sweet fortified wines, including Muscat and Topaque. Vines were first planted in the district during the gold rush era of the 1850s.
