About Cornishtown
Cornishtown is a rural locality in the Shire of Indigo in north-east Victoria, established in 1859 by Cornish immigrants who arrived after the collapse of tin mining. The former primary school from 1875 still stands as a community hall, though few traces of the original township remain, situated roughly 10 kilometres from the Rutherglen wine region and 30 kilometres from Wangaratta.
