About McMahons Creek
McMahons Creek is a locality in Victoria on the Warburton-Woods Point Road, bordering the Yarra Ranges National Park in the Shire of Yarra Ranges. It has a rich history of gold mining and timber logging, with gold mining commencing on the creek in 1858 and quartz reefs discovered at its junction with the Yarra River in 1879. Timber from the surrounding forests was logged from the 1920s. The historic Reefton Hotel, licensed in 1886, is a local landmark.
