About Mansfield (Vic.)

Mansfield is a town in the foothills of the Victorian Alps in north-east Victoria, about 180 km from Melbourne, and the seat of the Mansfield Shire. Once dependent on farming and timber, it is now a tourism centre and the main service town for the Mount Buller ski resort, with Mount Stirling nearby. The town is associated with the high-country alpine grazing tradition celebrated in the film The Man from Snowy River.
