About Kergunyah
Kergunyah is a rural locality on the Kiewa Valley Highway in north-eastern Victoria, about 30 kilometres south-east of Wodonga. Its name is thought to come from an Aboriginal word for a camping ground, and the district began as a pastoral run taken up in 1838. After land selection in the early 1870s a school opened in 1873, and grazing and later dairying supported a community with a Presbyterian church and a memorial hall.
