About Leopold
Leopold sits on undulating ground at the western edge of the Bellarine Peninsula, bounded by Corio Bay to the north and the Ramsar-listed Lake Connewarre wetlands to the south. The Bellarine Highway runs through the town, connecting it to Geelong and the peninsula beyond. Originally named Kensington, it was renamed in 1892 after Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany, son of Queen Victoria.
