About Tandarra
Tandarra is a rural locality in the Shire of Loddon in north-central Victoria, situated approximately 40 kilometres north of Bendigo. Named after the Tandarra pastoral run taken up by John Aitken in 1846, the name is thought to derive from an Aboriginal word for a camping place. The Bendigo to Kerang railway line provided a station from 1883 and the Waranga Western Channel, constructed in the early 1900s, passes just north of the locality providing irrigation water.
