About Sedgwick
Sedgwick is a historic rural locality in the City of Greater Bendigo, Victoria, situated approximately 20 kilometres south-east of Bendigo. First settled in 1854 during the Victorian gold rush, the area was home to the Great Eastern Mine and was originally known as Upper Emu Creek before being renamed in 1901 after British geologist Adam Sedgwick. A historic water channel built in 1877 to carry water from Malmsbury to Bendigo still passes through the locality.
