About Green Gully (Vic.)

Green Gully is a small rural locality in the Shire of Mount Alexander in central Victoria, about 16 kilometres south-west of Castlemaine and near the township of Newstead. Originally known as Green Valley, it experienced a gold rush in 1858 that attracted around 3,000 miners, and several Victorian-era stone residences and mining relics from that period survive within the Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park.
