About Havelock
Havelock is a former gold mining town in the Central Goldfields region of Victoria, located about 10 kilometres north of Maryborough on the road to Dunolly. Gold was discovered there in 1858 and the settlement was named after Major General Sir Henry Havelock, a British military figure who died during the Indian Mutiny in 1857.
