About Carranballac

Carranballac is a rural locality in the Pyrenees Shire of western Victoria, named after the historic Chirnside family station settled in 1841. The property was the home of pastoralist Andrew Chirnside, who with his brother Thomas built one of Victoria's most extensive pastoral empires, and featured a bluestone homestead, a 22-stand woolshed and an early hydro-electric scheme.
