About Ballan
Ballan is a town in the Shire of Moorabool in central Victoria, about an hour's drive west of Melbourne on the Western Freeway between Melbourne and Ballarat. During the Victorian gold rush it was an important staging point for coaches travelling to the Ballarat goldfields, and it remains the shire's second-largest administrative centre.
