About Alfredton

Alfredton is a predominantly residential suburb on Ballarat's western fringe, bisected by the Western Highway. It is the site of the Arch of Victory and the starting point of the Avenue of Honour, Australia's longest war memorial roadside plantation, stretching 18 kilometres along the highway. Originally part of Cardigan, the area was renamed after Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, following his 1867 visit.
