About Lake Wendouree
Lake Wendouree is a residential and recreational suburb of the City of Ballarat in Victoria, located two kilometres from the Ballarat central business district. The suburb encompasses the man-made Lake Wendouree, a popular recreational landmark surrounded by the Ballarat Botanical Gardens and the City Oval precinct with its grandstand built in 1887. Developed in the 1870s during the Victorian gold rush land boom, Lake Wendouree became a prestigious address with grand bluestone residences. The lake is used for rowing, fishing and walking with a 6 kilometre path around its perimeter.
