About Lake St Clair
Lake St Clair is a locality in the Central Highlands of Tasmania, spanning the local government areas of Central Highlands, Meander Valley and West Coast, and made up almost entirely of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Its namesake lake, known as leeawuleena, is the deepest lake in Australia and the source of the River Derwent, and the Overland Track ends at its southern shore.
