About Kapunda
Kapunda is a historic town in the Light Regional Council area of the Barossa Valley region of South Australia, situated approximately 75 kilometres north of Adelaide. The town is known as the site of the first successful copper mine in Australia, discovered in 1842, and retains many heritage buildings from its mining heyday including the Kapunda Mine and the historic main street. Kapunda sits within the broader Barossa Valley landscape of vineyards, grazing land and remnant bushland on the rolling hills of the North Mount Lofty Ranges.
