About Bowmans

Bowmans is a locality in South Australia's Mid North, about 125 km north of Adelaide, named after R and C Bowman, early pastoralists in the area. It grew around the railways: the line north from Adelaide towards Port Augusta passes through, and in 1923 the broad-gauge line from Adelaide crossed the Port Wakefield line here. The old alignment now serves the Bowmans Rail intermodal terminal.
