About Brompton
Brompton is an inner-northern suburb of Adelaide, about four kilometres from the city centre in the City of Charles Sturt. Established in 1849 and named after Yorkshire, England, the suburb was historically a centre for brickmaking and industry. The former Brompton Gasworks on Chief Street, operating from 1863 to 1964, is a State Heritage Place recognised as the most important early industrial utility site in South Australia.
