About Renown Park
Renown Park is an inner northern suburb of Adelaide in the City of Charles Sturt, South Australia, located 4.1 kilometres northeast of the Adelaide central business district. Established in 1920 after John McQuillan's death, the suburb was named after HMS Renown, the Royal Navy battlecruiser which brought the Prince of Wales to Australia. Bounded by Torrens Road to the southwest, the Gawler railway line to the east and South Road which intersects the eastern side, the suburb was formerly serviced by the City to Cheltenham tram line which was removed in 1958. Renown Park has high diversity with 55.9 percent of residents Australian-born and significant Vietnamese, Indian and Chinese communities. Sam Johnson Sportsground and Angus Reserve are notable parks.
