About Woongarra
Woongarra is a rural locality in the Bundaberg Region of Queensland, situated approximately 11 kilometres south-east of Bundaberg. The name is an Aboriginal word meaning brigalow tree, and the flat terrain ranging from 10 to 40 metres above sea level supports predominantly sugarcane and macadamia growing with some grazing. A network of cane tramways transports harvested cane to local sugar mills, and the nearby coast at Elliott Heads and Innes Park provides access to Coral Sea beaches.
