About Proston
Proston is a small rural town and locality in the South Burnett Region of Queensland, about 280 kilometres north-west of Brisbane and 50 kilometres north-west of Kingaroy. Settled around 1910, the town grew after the railway arrived in 1923 and the local dairy co-operative opened a butter factory in 1934. Nearby Lake Boondooma, twenty kilometres north-west, is popular for fishing, and the heritage-listed Shepherd Memorial Anglican Church of St Peter dates from 1939.
