About Mount Perry
Mount Perry is a rural town and locality in the North Burnett Region of Queensland, about 100 km west of Bundaberg. It grew rapidly after copper was discovered in 1869, and a railway line linked the town to Bundaberg from 1884 until 1960; the copper smelter site is heritage-listed. The locality takes its name from the Mount Perry pastoral run, named in 1857, and today the area is used mainly for raising cattle, with gold mining continuing nearby.
