About New Moonta
New Moonta is a quiet rural locality in Queensland's Wide Bay-Burnett region within the Bundaberg Region council area. Settled in the late nineteenth century, it was served by the now-closed Mount Perry railway line via Ellimatta station, and a provisional school operated from 1904 to 1926. Grazing and mixed farming define the surrounding landscape, with Gayndah and Bundaberg providing essential services.
