About Miara

Miara is a coastal and rural locality in the Bundaberg Region, situated on the southern bank of the Kolan River. The name is believed to derive from an Aboriginal word, and the townsite was surveyed in 1884. A sugar mill operated in the area from 1897 until 1917, and today Miara is known for its proximity to fishing grounds and the Mon Repos sea turtle nesting site.
