About Manyung
Manyung is a rural town and locality in Queensland, split between the Gympie Region and the South Burnett Region, about 11 km north-east of Murgon. The town grew around a railway station on the Nanango line that opened in 1903; the station was renamed Manyung in 1910 from a Waka language word thought to mean death adder or scrub fruit. The line closed in 2010 and the corridor now forms part of the South Burnett Rail Trail.
