About Manumbar

Manumbar is a rural locality in the Gympie Region of Queensland, located about 175 kilometres north-northwest of Brisbane and 85 kilometres southwest of Gympie. Established as a pastoral run in 1848 and opened for selection in 1877, the locality is bounded by ranges dividing the Mary, Burnett, and Brisbane River watersheds, with multiple state forests including the 4,980-hectare Gallangowan. The heritage-listed Elgin Vale Sawmill, a rare steam-driven softwood sawmill in operating condition, was once one of Queensland's largest mills.
