About Eidsvold
Eidsvold is a rural town and locality in the North Burnett Region of Queensland, self-proclaimed Beef Capital of the Burnett and a hub for the regional cattle industry. The name comes from Eidsvold Station, taken up by the Archer brothers in 1848 and named for Eidsvoll in Norway, where the Norwegian constitution was signed in 1814. In the 1880s Eidsvold was a bustling gold-mining town of more than 2,000 people, and from the 1920s it developed into a major cattle-selling centre.
