About Coringa
Coringa is a sparsely settled rural locality in the North Burnett Region of Queensland, situated along the Burnett River. The western edge of the locality is dominated by Paradise Dam, completed in 2005, which impounds the Burnett River to form Lake Paradise and flooded the former gold-mining township of Paradise — established in 1889 with a peak population of over 2,000 — beneath the reservoir. The dam site offers camping, boating and fishing, and an archaeological excavation of the town site was conducted before inundation. Residents rely on nearby Biggenden and Mundubbera for essential services.
