About Boondooma
Boondooma is a sparsely populated rural locality in the South Burnett Region, best known for its heritage-listed homestead complex established as a sheep run in 1846 and for the Boondooma Dam recreational area. The dam, built in 1983 on the Boyne River, is one of Queensland's most consistent inland fishing spots, stocked with golden perch, silver perch and Australian bass. The homestead site, near the junction of Boondooma Creek and the Boyne River, includes mid-nineteenth century stone and timber buildings.
