About Yabulu
Yabulu is a town and coastal suburb of Townsville in Queensland, located about 25 kilometres north-west of the Townsville CBD on Halifax Bay. The locality is on Wulgurukaba country, with Mount Saunders rising to 92 metres in the centre and Althaus Creek forming the western boundary. The coastal fringe features mangroves, marshes and sand dunes separating the suburb from the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area waters, and the former Palmer Nickel and Cobalt Refinery operated here from 1974 until 2016.
